Game Description:
The island city of Nueva Havanna stands upon the warm shores of Isla Verdad, the largest and wealthiest port in the Azure Sea. Built atop gleaming white limestone cliffs overlooking a brilliant turquoise harbor, its colorful districts are alive with merchants, sailors, artificers, and adventurers from every corner of the known world.
Nueva Havanna serves as the home port of the Royal Azure Fleet, a vast armada charged with protecting the kingdom's trade routes and escorting immense treasure convoys laden with gold, rare spices, enchanted relics, and magical resources from across the empire.
Where wealth gathers, however, so too do those who would claim it. Privateers, foreign merchants, smugglers, bounty hunters, spies, and notorious pirate crews all descend upon Nueva Havanna seeking opportunity. Though the governor and Royal Azure Fleet maintain strict order within the city's walls, an uneasy understanding has endured for generations: so long as no blood is spilled in the streets and no ship threatens the Fleet itself, business continues.
It is often said that every coin earned upon the Azure Sea eventually passes through Nueva Havanna.
Until today.

The God Beneath

DM: Juan
System: D&D 5E
Level: 10
Players: 4 to 6
Player Experience: Some Experience Recommended
Tone: Dark, Horror, Survival, Suspenseful, High Stakes, Emotional
Pregenerated Characters: Yes
Runtime: 3 Hours
Game Description:
The jungle stopped making noise three days ago. Then the bodies started returning.
No birds. No insects. No wind. Something inside the ancient pyramid has learned how to steal more than lives. It takes memories. It takes names. Sometimes it gives them back wrong. Thirty-two hunters entered the ruins. One crawled out alive. He carved a warning into his own arm because he could no longer remember how to speak it: DON'T LET IT KNOW YOUR NAME.
Your expedition has one night to reach the summit and restore a failing seal. Before play begins, every character receives a private secret. Some could save the group. Some could destroy it. Some will make you question why another hero came at all. No character is predetermined to betray the party. What you do with the truth is yours.
The physical temple becomes a survival-horror pressure cooker. Corruption strips away identity. Characters recover pieces of themselves by trusting one another, exactly when the adventure gives them reasons not to. Face lethal fights, bargains spoken in the voices of people you miss, and decisions where the safest choice may also be the cruelest.
Character death is possible. Betrayal is possible. Neither is required. This adventure is best for players who enjoy horror, secrets, moral tension, and character-driven choices under pressure.

Welcome, Family, to Old Gods of Appalachia. It is 1897 Kentucky, and you and your kin, if y'all have them, are journeying south along a wagon trail when some trees block the way. Luckily, you saw a small logging town by the name of Hamlin a little way back where you can hole up while the way gets cleared.
At first glance, Hamlin is simply weary. The buildings sag. The people speak in whispers. But beneath the rot and silence, something coils. The menfolk vanished, lured away by promises of work on a railroad line that never wrote back. And now, the children are disappearing.
Is this just the slow decay of a town outliving its use... or is something older, hungrier, choking the life from it?
Pull your coat tight. The woods are watching. And something is stirring in the soil.

The setting is based on the Old Gods of Appalachia podcast.
